My oil paintings seem like watercolors is because I don't  make gradually layer and build up the paint. However, when I found this theme, I strongly felt that I had to use oil paint. I felt this way because I wanted to combine the tree and its background.
Trees have existed on Earth before humans. They have gone through hundreds of years of history. The vital force caused by this time is apparent in the tree's tunks, roots, and branches. I did not paint any leaves. I painted the trees in the form they are in when they are conserving energy to get ready for their next life.
 
私の油絵は水彩画のようだと言われるのは、通常の油絵のように絵具を塗り重ねていないからだ。けれ ど、このテーマを見つけた時、どうしても油絵で絵を描きたくなった。木とその背景のコンビネーションを練り重ねて見たかったからだ。
木は、人間が生まれるよりも早くか ら地球に生息している。何百年もの間を生きぬいているものがたくさんある。その生命力が、幹に、根に、そして枝にあらわれている。私の書く木には葉がな い。これは枯れ木ではなく、次の命を生む前にエネルギーを温存している姿を書きたかったからだ。
