Ink, along with charcoal is one of my favorite media to draw with. When expressing the body lines, I use a pen in stead of a brush. The thickness of the lines can vary due to how fast the pen is moving. I like the way the charcoal draws a smooth line, but I also enjoy the sharp lines the pen can make. When shading, I use a brush, but using the brush is extremely difficult, because you need to control the soft tip of the brush and the ink absorbed with your wrists. Even with this difficulty, the reason why I am drawn to this type of black and white watercolor is most likely because I am Japanese.  

Ink もCharcoalと同じく、絵を描くときの私の好きな道具のの一つである。体のラインを表現するとき、私は筆でなく、ペンを使う。ペンに付けられたイン クが、ペンを動かす速さによって、強弱をつけてくれる。Charcoalのような滑らかさも好きだが、ペン先の角ばった戸惑いながら引かれるラインも好きな のだ。陰影を付けるときは、筆を使うが、筆は非常に難しい。やわらかな筆先と、たっぷりと吸いこまれたインクを腕先でうまくコントロールしなければならな いからだ。それでも、水墨画のような白黒のインクの絵に引かれるは、やはり、私が日本人だからだろうか。
