My name is Izumi.
Food,
clothing, and life is essential thing in life. In contrast, I believe
that music and art, such as paintings are not essential for a living,
but recently I heard an interesting story. I heard that when you eat
something delicious, a certain type of brain cells react and that these
same cells also react when looking at a painting or listening to music.
That is probably why people are so captious about art. I hope that my
art will be able to trigger these brain cells which are so connected to
the way people feel about art.
I would like my style of art
to be a mixture of modern styles and traditional styles, but I feel that
it is difficult and takes time to define my style. You will probably see how my style
changes and hope that you will enjoy them.
Ever since
I was young I loved to draw, but before I moved to the United States, I
did not have the time to draw or learn how to draw. I was able to come
to the Unites States later on and started taking art classes at college.
I learned a lot from my classes, but the fact that all the professors
and classmates encouraged me made me feel happy.
衣食住は、人間が生きていくために不可欠なものだ。それに
比べ、音楽や絵画などの芸術は生きていくために不可欠ではないと思っていた。しかし、最近、とても興味ある話を聞いた。例えば、おいしいものを食べて反応する脳の細胞と、絵を見たり音楽を聴いたりして心地よく感じる脳の細胞は同じ部分なのだそうだ。それゆえに、人間は芸術というものにこだわるのだと言う。
私の絵も、人に「おいしい」と感じさせるものであってほしい。
私は、モダンとトラディショナルを融合させたようなものを書きたいと思っている
が、自分のスタイルを確立するには時間がかかる。私のスタイルがどう変化していくかを楽しんでもらえ
ると嬉しい。
小さな頃から、絵を描くのが好きだった。けれど、アメリカに来るまで、絵を書く時間も絵を習う時間も、持てずにいた。縁があって、アメリカに来ることになり、絵を習い始めた。Collegeでいくつかのクラスをとった。授業で多くのことを学んだが、何よりも、「絵を書く」ということを励ましてくれた教授やクラスメートに感謝したい。
